We often hear about life long learning. Ann Landon, a faithful member of our congregation inspires us to make it become a reality!
In recent years Ann decided to explore her faith and its application to life more. She had left formal education at the age of fourteen and so a step to higher education was not an easy one to make. She chose to go to Luther King House, not far from St Chrysostom’s and studied for the BA degree which they offer, and which is accredited by Chester University. Ann worked hard, and was encouraged and supported by her family, the staff at Luther King House and by Church friends. Fr John, in particular acted as a mentor. Towards the end of her study Ann did a dissertation on how churches welcome people with mental health issues, a personal passion of hers, and she hopes to apply this to church life.
Ann graduated in November 2012 and so – Congratulations to Ann Landon BA on her achievement.
Yes well done. it is hard work but worth it. I did an OU degree in 2005 while working full time. It would be interesting to know more about how we welcome, or not, people with mental illness. Darren
