“The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho

"A magical story about finding your dreams..."

St Chrysostom’s Book Reading group’s next book is “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho, recommended by Reynhard. Reynhard says that he first read this book years ago when he was back home in Indonesia and it inspired him to follow his dream in life.

The book is about a young Spanish shepherd on a journey searching for his dream. The journey takes him to Egypt, meeting a variety of characters of different cultures and beliefs who help him in some way to discover that whilst his journey is long and complicated, the dream he is following is closer than he realises.  Reynhard describes the novel as a ‘magical, philosophical story about how to follow and find your dreams” and will be introducing the discussion when Book Group next meet on Sunday 21st February at 1.30pm at St Chrysostom’s Church.

St Chrysostom’s Church Book Reading Group is an informal and friendly gathering of people who read suggested books then meet to discuss them over a cup of tea, usually on a Sunday afternoon.
