On Thursday (21st January) we met with our good friend Fr Paddy Connelly in the Chapel of the large house just opposite St Chrysostoms.
The House is the British headquarters of the SMA Fathers (Society of African Missions). We had a time of prayer and then tea and coffee and a lovely chat together.
We had specially arranged this gathering for Christian Unity week, which replaced our Thursday evening Mass, and so praying for love and unity among christians was a theme of our worship.
We also met Fr Swavek from southern Poland and Paulo also from Poland. They are members of the same order and are here to support the work of the British province.
Fr Paddy has worked in many parts of Africa including Egypt, Ghana and Liberia and he is a great campaigner for peace and justice in the world. He has many fascinating, and amusing, stories of his time in Africa and elsewhere.
It was lovely that we could pray together as friends and pray for each other. It was good too to sing together from The Lord’s my Shepherd to As I kneel before you. It was also good that we could hear about the different journeys we are on and share our thoughts and stories together.
