Visiting churches in Trafford, Pendleton, Cheetham and Longsight, curry in Rusholme, Benediction at St Chrysostoms, discussing cartoons of the Mothers Union… all were part of an SCP (Society of Catholic Priests) Vocations Weekend based in Manchester, and staffed from St Chrysostom’s.
We welcomed people from Headingly, Gosport, London, Whittingham, Eastbourne and other places in England and Wales, who are exploring how God is calling them. Over the weekend they had opportunity to make friends, share ideas, and meet priests in their different parishes.
On Sunday they attended Mass at St Chrysostoms, and over lunch met the DDO, Fr David Sharples SCP, and Bishop Mark. The weekend closed with prayer and Benediction.
Quotes: “sense of awe,” “wonderful,” “inspiring,” “great fun”
A most inspiring weekend with the warmest of welcomes and the chance to share what can sometimes feel like a lonely journey. I would recommend it to anyone considering a call to Priesthood. My heartfelt thanks to all at Chrysostoms.
I echo wholeheartedly Clive’s comments. The weekend was a wonderful opportunity to meet people from all over England, each person exploring their own call to Christian ministry. We heard the experience of ministry firsthand and talked, prayed and ate together. It was a hugely rewarding and insightful weekend. Great thanks to St. Chrysostom’s.
Just got back after an amazing vocations weekend. It helped me to focus my calling by sharing experiences with other colleagues who are on the same journey. Wittnessing some inspiring church work in the local helped me a great deal. Saturday night we took full advantage of the “Curry Mile” and relaxed. On Sunday we attended Mass at St Chrysostoms, and over lunch we met Bishop Mark and the chance to ask questions . The weekend closed with prayer and Benediction. Great weekend a must for all considering vocation.
