Beating the Bounds

On Rogation Sunday, (9th May) a group of us from St C’s walked the Parish boundaries.  (Traditionally its called ‘Beating the Bounds’)

The walk begins on Anson Road

It was a great opportunity to see how diverse our parish is and to pray for God’s blessing on our parish and community.  As we walked round we passed Student Halls, walked through very different types of residential neighbourhoods, the Curry mile on Wilmslow Road (we were very tempted to stop of for some food!), Manchester Royal Infirmary on Upper Brook Street and Hathersage Road, and St Chrysostom’s Primary school – one of the parish schools.  We stopped for times of prayer asking for God to bless each area and it’s paticular needs as well as to help us all to live together and support one another.

Ken our official photographer risked life and limb to get the perfect shot while on Wilmslow Rd, he nimbly dodged the traffic to bring you this shot!

We stopped for a break at St John’s rectory where the Sisters from the Community of the Holy name gave us a cup of tea and a great selection of sweet and savoury cakes.

We finished up with Vespers (evening prayer) back at Church and Neil reflected on how Christ walked around His community, seeing,  and challenging the boundaries that separate people.
