The Manchester Lesbian and Gay Chorus performed at St Chrysostom’s Church on Friday July 16th. This performance brought the Victoria Park Festival 2010 to a close. The vibrancy, character and sense of joy from the choir resounded across the Church filling us all with a spirit of harmony.
I spoke at the end of the performance about St Chrysostom’s being a Church that welcomes everybody and celebrates diversity. And diversity has been very much part of the festival. We’ve had African drumming, organ and cello recitals, musical performances from school children, an international food evening and much more!
And this evening, hearing the choir sing popular songs such as ‘If I Could Change the World’, ‘Down Town’ and ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, brought a further dimension to this festival. A particular highlight was the song ‘Can you Feel the Love Tonight’ because on this enchanted evening in Victoria Park we celebrated the gift of music allowing our hearts and mind to come together as one.
