Many languages, One Mass

Our people at St Chrysostom’s come from many different places. We are united in worshipping together at Mass.

We’re preparing a display for after Easter showing where we come from. To hep prepare the display today at Mass we asked people the country of their birth, and where they were born. Answers ranged from Sydney, Australia to Kingston upon Thames, from Santiago in Chile to Soeul in South Korea.

And we ask about first or native languages. What a range of first languages in our congregation! This morning the following first languages were listed from among us: English, Cantonese, Portuguese, Farsi, German, Hindi, Urdu, Polish, Shona, Creole, Chichewa, Igbo, Korean, Bini, Spanish and Ikwerre.
