In the evening of Monday of Holy Week we gathered for the poignant service of Tenebrae. Here are some comments of worshippers:
“Our Holy Week devotions started with Tenebrae, a moving meditative service on Monday evening which included some wonderful singing and dramatic readings.
It was a beautiful experience to sit in the dark lit only by candlelight listening to the readings which included the heart wrenching and very human verses from Lamentations which echoed the feeling of betrayal and impending doom experienced by Jesus.”
“The fading lights, the moving readings, Fliss’s wonderful singing of the chants, led me to the deep darkness and spiritual shadows of Holy Week”
“The beautiful service of Tenebrae was a lovely way to bring in Holy Week. The singing from Lamentations in the dark, peaceful church was truly a wonderful moment.”
