Eighteen people from all over the country – from Chichester to Coventry, Derby to Darlington – spent a weekend in Manchester hosted by the Society of Catholic Priests and St Chrysostom’s Church.
Of different ages, backgrounds and outlooks they all came with one purpose – to further discern God’s Calling in their lives.
The vocations weekend, designed for those discerning a vocation to Anglican Priesthood, took us to a number of different parishes around the city. We heard about prayer, discernment and inspiring people.
Some of the most valuable time was spent over a pint in the lively Hardy’s Well Pub, or the Saturday night curry on our parish’s famous Curry Mile. These moments to chat and really get to know one another were fantastic.
Don’t take our word for it, this is what the participants said:
Jane from Brighton said ‘The weekend has enabled me to see the challenges of parish life in other settings’
Blair from Yorkshire said ‘Joyous! a competely heartening experience, I would recommend it to anyone’
‘thought provoking, exciting and fun!’ said Jane from Coventry
Luke from Derby said ‘This weekend has been astonishing. I have loved our times of worship, fellowship, prayer and thought. In making this happen the team at St Chrysostom’s and your friends have helped me to be very close to God.’
Reading this blog reminds me about how special our weekend together was in Manchester. Many thanks to everyone who made it possible.
A big hello to all the people who attended this very speical weekend and a bigger thank you to Fr Ian, Jack, Lisa and team S Chrysostom’s. Lets make sure we all tell our DDO’s about this fantastic weekend so others can benefit for next year.
