Eric Parker RIP

EricWe are sad to announce the death of Eric Parker, who worshipped with us on his return from Malta several years ago. Eric keenly supported the Catholic and inclusive tradition of St Chrysostom’s. Indeed he said he moved to Daisy Bank Road after doing some research so that he could have easy access to a church like ours.

Eric was known for his courteous manner, he was a gentleman and he was a great talker! He loved to entertain parish assistants with stories of church life on Malta.

He faithfully attended Mass each Sunday – letting us know if he was going to be away. He often arrived early for Sunday Mass and loved to catch up on the news before the Mass began. His eye sight meant he could not read easily, but from the same pew, a few from the front on the right hand side, he always followed the Mass carefully and devoutly.

A few years ago, as his health became weaker, Eric moved to Swinton to live with his nephew but was able to visit us from time to time. Eric’s funeral is at Peel Green Crematorium on Friday (12th July) at 10.20am. At 5pm on Friday we will have a quiet requiem mass for him at St Chrysostom’s. Anyone who wishes is welcome to attend.

Eric’s ashes are to be interred in Malta in August on what would have been his 90th birthday.

May he rest in peace.
