No pickled peppers please

The Tenth Day of Christmas

“God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him.” 1 John 4;9

St John writes simply about a huge truth. God’s love revealed in Jesus. Jesus comes to give us life, to set us free, to make us whole.

Day 10Our Christian faith is not one of drudgery or suffering – as Pope Francis reminded his clergy not to have faces like “pickled peppers” we are reminded about the joy which comes from following Jesus.

Let us pray that our faces may not be like pickled peppers! Pray that we might be folk whose faith shines out as we live out our lives – and that our smile, our laughter with Jesus might release and give comfort to those who face difficulty and setbacks in life.  Let us pray also that we may bring joy and peace this coming year.

An action you could try: Make eye contact and smile at someone who looks downhearted.
