Wise worship

Here is the last of our reflections in the twelve days of Christmas.

Arise, shine; for your light has come,  and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. Isaiah 60.1

Day 12

The glorious Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the coming of the wise men to Bethlehem.

The feast  celebrates also  Our Lord Jesus Christ shown not only to the Jewish people but to all peoples – represented by the ‘three kings from Persian lands afar.’

The wise men are overjoyed, the Bible tells us, to find the child and his mother.

What is the first act of the wise men on entering and seeing the child Jesus? ‘They bowed low and worshipped.’ Then they gave their gifts.

The wise have worship as their priority. Let us follow their example!

O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!
Bow down before him, his glory proclaim;
with gold of obedience, and incense of lowliness,
kneel and adore him: the Lord is his Name!
