A wonderful debut from our new Choral Evensong Choir yesterday evening, pictured here in final rehearsal.
They presented Thomas Tallis’ Short Service and Edward Elgar’s Ave Verum, and sounded beautiful. It was especially nice to see plenty of familiar faces of Hulme Hall students including Huw, Lizzy and Sophie who sang in our service of Lessons and Carols at the students’ residence last December.
If you’re in Manchester or nearby, we have three more dates for Choral Evensong on Sundays during Eastertide: 18th May, 25th May and 1st June.
The service starts at 6.30pm, after Benediction at 5pm – or, as some wags were calling it yesterday, “Pennydiction” because the Revd Penny King from St Elisabeth’s, Reddish, was our guest celebrant and is again next week. But there’s a generous tea & coffee gap between the two services so you’re welcome to come to either or both.
