Whatever is lovely

Children at Munamato, our weekly time of prayer and reflection for children of any faith at St Chrysostom’s primary school looked recently at a Bible passage: Philippians 4, 8-9.

whatever is lovelyChildren shared what made them afraid – snakes, lizards, the dark, scary computer images and nightmares… And then we thought about what makes us sad – being left out, being hurt, not sharing, and what is unfair – not being equal, greediness.

Then we said we’d try not to worry too much about these things and we’ll talk to God about them, and God will help.

Then we thought how its best to think about whatever is lovely and we thought of flowers, the beautiful sky, caring people, stars and the sun. We thought of amazing things – bubbles, fireworks, everyone helping and stars, and we thought of great things animals, taking care, Disneyland and people working hard, and wonderful little things baby chicks, seeds, stars and babies. And we thought too about kind people  our mums, our dads, our friends and God, and we thought how we also liked to be kind to people especially friends and family.

Whatever is lovely – think about these things.
