First Station – Jesus condemned to be crucified

In the days leading up to Maundy (Holy) Thursday we are posting a ‘virtual’ Stations of the Cross – one station for each day until the Wednesday of Holy Week. These short reflections and prayers have been kindly written by Sister Jean Mary CHN, and the images are of the Stations of the Cross in St Chrysostom’s Church.

We invite you to pause each day and reflect on the Way of the Cross.

Jesus Condemned to be Crucified

We adore you O Christ and we bless you
Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world

Jesus was accused of crimes he had not committed,  subjected to a trial which was a farce, and dragged before the Governor in order to be condemned to death.

He stands with all those who to-day are imprisoned, often tortured and often executed, accused of crimes they have not committed.

Jesus, we pray that you will be with those in many countries who unjustly suffer unfair trials, imprisonment, torture and death. May we support them in our prayers.
