Second Station – Jesus Compelled to Bear His Cross

Jesus Compelled to Bear His Cross

We adore you O Christ and we bless you
Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world

The cross beam is placed on Jesus’ shoulders, and he receives it without complaint in spite of the pain from the flogging. So he takes upon himself the sin and pain of the world.  In so accepting this he redeems it. Out of pain and humiliation generosity and service will flower, love and goodness will triumph.

Jesus our Lord, give us the grace to accept without complaint the inconvenience or hurt that may come our way, and instead of complaint, help us to look for ways in which we may help others and so ease their load.

May we “bear one anothers’ burdens and so fulfil the law of Christ” for your name’s sake.

(Our reflections and prayers for the Stations of the Cross this year have been written for us by Sister Jean Mary CHN)
