People who worship with us at St C’s get about a bit! Kevin is away for the Summer and sends us this lovely ‘postcard’ from Peru.
I was talking to Mycah the other day and she suggested that it would be a good idea for me to send the church a postcard. I couldn’t agree more, so here it is! I went to Peru for a volunteering project with Manchester University, and spent most of my time in Peru in the rural regions of San Ignacio, where my friends and I worked closely with the local coffee and honey producers, in hopes that we could help them improvise their businesses. For a start, we designed an affordable greenhouse so that coffee farmers can dry their coffee beans faster and participated in a meeting with the honey producers which led to the formation of an association to provide better support for the bee farmers.
God has been very gracious to us throughout our stay in Peru. The local government and people were very supportive of our project (and even featured us on the local radio and TV stations!) one of the locals even invited us to stay with his family so we saved tones on accommodation! Yesterday, I had the chance to visit Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and the view was breathtaking. The guide told us Machu Picchu is a place where ancient Incan astrologists observed the sky to predict harvest seasons and festival dates.
That’s all from me for now, hope to see you all again after the summer holidays end! Take care and may God Bless all of us!
With love from Cusco, Peru,
