We’re doing something new for St Chrysostom’s. We’re having a ‘Come and See‘ Sunday, the first one is on Sunday 6th November.
We pride ourselves on being a welcoming and inclusive church. We do our best, not surprisingly there are times when we don’t do things as well as we’d like, however, it is very clear that there is a general consensus at St Chrysostom’s that we’re a very welcoming church.
We love our Church, we love coming and we love the mass. Sunday mornings week by week are a very special time for us. We love worshipping God at the Mass, and we love catching up with one another afterwards, and we love making new friends at church too.
However much we love coming to St Chrysostom’s, we don’t always find it easy to invite people along. We can be shy, or hold back. That’s understandable, and it’s also a shame, given how much our church means to us. So – we could be more active in inviting others to come and join in. If our Christian faith is important to us, and our church life important to us, then we’ll aim to be more confident about sharing it. Jesus didn’t tell his disciples to keep quiet about their faith; he told them to share it. Throughout the Bible and indeed throughout history, and today, we see men and women sharing their faith, proclaiming the good news of Jesus.
So Come and See Sunday is our way at St Chrysostom’s of being more intentional about inviting others.
Of course, every Sunday is Come and See Sunday. We want to invite people every week! But it is helpful to have one Sunday when we made it that little bit easier for people to come to church for the first time. A special Mass book is prepared with helps to people to join in, and we are encouraging people to come.
The invitation is to all – those who are regular, those who haven’t been for a while, those who have never been – those of little faith or those of none.
Come and See!
