Thanks for the contribution LGBT people have made, and continue to make, at St Chrysostom’s, was the theme of our Evening Oasis worship held at the end of October.
Paul Pritchard led the worship and here are the prayers which were used. Please read them through and pray them in whatever way you wish.
Blessed God, we give you thanks for our many gifts: for the gifts of our race, gender and sexual orientation, and for the sacraments of relationships and community that grow from these gifts. Lord hear us… Lord graciously hear us
Blessed God, we give You thanks because You give us the wisdom to discern injustice and the courage to stand for peace. Lord hear us…
Blessed God, give us the strength of a mountain to stand against the ignorance of sexism, the promotion of racism, and the condemnation and defamation of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. Lord hear us…
Blessed God, forgive us for participating in attitudes and behaviours that cause repression and grief for others. Make us aware and give us the power to change. Lord hear us…
Blessed we thank you for the welcome and inclusiveness found here at St Chrysostom’s Church. May this place be for others an example of Christian witness. Lord hear us…
Blessed God, we give thanks for the people at St Chrysostom’s church, particularly for LGBTQ+ people who over the years have faithfully participated in the life of this community. We thank you for their ministry in various roles including church wardens, Kharis leaders and Assistants, Treasurer, Organist, Singers welcomers, parish assistants, lay assistants and priests. Lord hear us…
Holy Spirit of life, thank You for the gift of those who give their hearts of empathy, who reach out with support and understanding to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people, to those healing the injuries of racism, and to those who nurture the rights of women. Lord hear us…
Blessed God, be with us always. Amen
